EMPATHY examines the exchange between maker and material. Stemming from the term “material intelligence,” the reciprocal and emotional relationship between maker, material, and process becomes an embodied way of making. By embracing softness within a hard material, this collection mirrors my journey toward vulnerability and sincerity in artistic expression and in my connections with myself, others, and the world around me. Playing with varied forms and extruded handles, I introduced a subtle shift from traditional ceramic vessel structures.
